In the digital world, many things have changed, but one practice remains persistent – the agency pitch. A lot of work, enormous use of resources, no payment, and in the worst case, idea theft by another company.
The practice of agency pitching comes from a time that was not quite so digital, when creative services were difficult to compare. However, reference projects are always accessible through websites, portfolios, and customer reviews. Why should agencies still provide their valuable time and expertise for free? Or would another, fairer model be conceivable?
Creativity is nowadays one of the most valuable resources, which should be especially appreciated in a trusting collaboration. Because agencies are more than just service providers – they are partners who can significantly influence business success with innovative ideas and solutions.
There are already pitches that are being compensated. It would be conceivable to expand this practice and ensure greater fairness. Companies that support this approach and invest in the pitch process demonstrate that they are interested in a successful long-term collaboration.
What do you think about the practice of agency pitches? Outdated or still too important to abolish?
